Independent Services
At some point, companies will require an independent valuation of their shares or assets. This valuation may be required for a variety of different reasons – regulatory or tax requirements, corporate governance issues, shareholder litigation, investment and/or lending decisions.
Conducting a business valuation is both an art and a science. To make sure you receive an accurate assessment of value, you need an experienced valuation practitioner involved in the process. Improper valuations can be costly leading to unsound plans and strategies, improper allocation of value and potential tax-related problems.
The in-house valuation team at Evans & Evans conducts hundreds of valuations each year for private and public companies, funds, institutions, shareholders and directors. Our Chartered Business Valuators (CBVs) can provide you with one of three types/levels of valuation reports:
The Calculation Valuation Report
An introductory-level professional document, the Calculation Valuation Report provides you with an internal report that gives you an initial assessment of value and all of the issues related to such work. This is a desirable solution if you are seeking a lower cost, preliminary opinion of value or if you want to get an initial value before proceeding with a more comprehensive report.
The Estimate Valuation Report
The Estimate Valuation Report provides you with a more detailed report and often forms the basis of formal bids and offers for companies. The Estimate Valuation Report is used for specific corporate and inter-corporate tax planning, for supporting value assessment, for tangible and intangible asset assessments as well as for capital and other asset appraisal.
The Comprehensive Valuation Report
The Comprehensive Valuation Report provides you with a formal opinion required for submission to formal regulatory agencies, financial institutions, government bodies and courts. This valuation involves extensive review and due diligence as well as thorough qualitative and quantitative analysis.
